Korean cosmetics Honestskin - REVIEW: Etude House Color My Brows

Hi everyone!
The Etude House Color My Brows is the first product that i decided to try on my face ever since i received my honestskin package. To be honest, i’m not one to be crazy about brows. Probably last year, I used to think doing my brows was a waste of time and i didn’t even bother. I’ve only had one brow product and it’s the Etude House eyebrow pencil. Lately though i noticed how doing your brows can make a huge difference to your look. I’ve been filling in my brows daily nowadays. It definitely made it’s way into my 5 minute makeup routine and, although i don’t feel like anything’s missing if i for once don’t do my brows, but it is a step i like to take. I figure, why not amp up the “brow-game” and go ahead and pick up a brow mascara. I decided to go for the Etude House Color My Brows because i just wanted to try a brow mascara for fun and this product is cheap so. Anyway, i think it’s time to tell you what i think about the Etude House Color My Brows. I got mine for around $3 if i’m not mistaken, from Honestskin’s clearance sale (i also got another one from Honestskin’s gift box event haha). On Etude’s official site, this brow mascara retails for $6.

The description says that this brow mascara is supposed to set, color and “moisten” brows(?) or whatever that means haha. It is a tinted brow mascara, not just a clear gel type of mascara you could use to set your eyebrows. There are 5 colors to chose from, i chose the darkest color which is number #01 in Rich Brown. Unlike Benefit’s Gimme Brow, it’s not a brow gel that has tiny fibers in it.

The brush is… humungous. It is huge! It could easily be a mascara wand, except this brush is shorter and stubbier. I don’t like how big the wand is, you can easily overdo your brows with this big of a brush. It also means that it picks up a lot of product, and i mean a lot. If you see the tip of the brush, you usually get a clump of product on the tip and you either have to wipe it away or be very careful when applying it. Shape wise, i like the pointier tip because it helps you get the corners of your brows.

Color wise, since i have dyed hair, this color matches me fine, quite perfectly. It’s a rich brown with some ash/reddish undertone. As you know, a lot of koreans love to dye their hair. Take your favorite k-idol for example, they’ve probably been through several hair colors. If you have black asian hair, i’m afraid this wouldn’t suit you or at least it wouldn’t look natural. I wish they had a grey-brown shade to fit black haired girls, but so far i’m just going to appreciate the fact that i dyed my hair haha.
One tip that i really need to stress when applying this product: Keep a light hand. This is very very important or else your brow game will be TOO strong for us to handle, i promise you, you don’t wanna go down that road. In my opinion, this product is pretty pigmented to be a brow mascara. Keep a light hand and do very light feather like strokes. I like to apply this lightly, barely touching the skin and just softly brush the brow hairs.

In short,
Pros:
✿ Very inexpensive!
✿ Lasts pretty long.
✿ Tints your brows, making them look fuller.
Cons:
✖ There’s definitely a learning curve to this product. You need to apply with a light hand.
✖ Too pigmented in my taste (weirdly not a pro?).
✖ Brush is huge!
✖ This shade won’t match girls with asian black hair.
✖ Not exactly smudge proof or waterproof.
Since it’s my first ever brow mascara, i didn’t really know what to expect. I’m not too fond of this but it is a little fun product to have when you wish to amp up your brow game.
Thank you for reading!
