REVIEW: ETUDE HOUSE ROSY TINT LIPS (#5, #7)

Today i will be reviewing the Etude House Rosy Tint Lips. Now these products have been released since around fall of last year if i’m not mistaken. I’ve had one of them a little after they came out now but i never got to review them. In my recent haul, i hauled the Rosy Tint Lips in the shade #5 which i got from Honestskin’s gift box event. I thought why not write a review on them. Keep on reading if you’re interested in this product!

I will be reviewing the shades in number 5 Baby Peony and number 7 Tea Rose.

The main point of this tint is the sponge applicator and the matte finish which i’ll talk more about in the next paragraph. This tint comes in a plastic squeezy tub with a sponge applicator at the end. The squeezy tub is pretty thick and hard so it kinda makes it hard to push the product out. Not the biggest fan and this will come very impractical if you have very little product left. As for the sponge… It’s a big thumbs down for me too. The sponge tip is wide and round, making it hard to apply this product precisely if you want to do a full lip. On the other hand, it’s perfect for recreating the gradient lip. But then again, the sponge absorbs quite a lot of product and it can get a little dirty. If you saw the condition of the sponge of my old and beaten Tea Rose tint… OTL. If you’re not a big fan of the sponge like myself, you can unscrew the sponge tip and just squeeze out the product onto your fingers or a lip brush.

Unlike most liquid/gel tints, these tints have a creamy texture and a matte finish. The texture is very interesting! It has a matte finish but it’s feels really comfortable… for the first 2 hours….. Just after application, it feels like your lips are covered with a very thin layer of oil? It has a velvety feeling, not dry but not moisturized either. After a few hours, it will definitely start to dry out your lips though. So, If you have dry and flaky lips, i warn you, this might not be your best friend. I have quite dry and flaky lips especially in the winter, and a tip is definitely to exfoliate your lips before. Obviously, any lip product would look ten times better if you exfoliate beforehand. If you’re too lazy to exfoliate, my one tip is to SLATHER and i mean SLATHER lip balm before you start your makeup so it softens the skin of your lip and then when you’re done with your whole makeup, blot your lips with a facial tissue and then apply the product. Works wonders… for the first few hours. The lasting power is alright. If you don’t eat or drink, it should last for about 6 hours.

Color wise, i think the shade Tea Rose matches perfectly with the swatch provided by Etude House. Baby Peony on the other hand, looks more like shade 6 English Garden. The colors are very pigmented and they’re both very flattering on my skintone. Baby Peony is quite a bright pink shade but if you apply it sheerly, you can definitely rock it on a daily. It gives a beautiful pink rosey flush. I love love love this shade as it brightens your complexion and just makes you look put together without looking like you tried too hard. Tea Rose is more of a mauve-y shade, very appropriate for everyday makeup. Like the swatches, you can either use it for a gradient lip look or a full lip. I personally love to apply a sheer layer all over the lips cause 1. I look very awkward with a gradient lip. 2. I can’t rock a full lip in public lol.

tldr;
Pros:

✿ Very pigmented
✿ Very flattering shades
✿ Doesn’t settle into fine lines
✿ Comfortable
✿ Decent lasting power

Cons:

✖ Can be very drying
✖ Hard and thick plastic tube which makes it hard to squeeze product
✖ Sponge tip isn’t the most hygenic applicator
